TIPS FOR TRAVELING WITH INFANTS AND TODDLERS

  • Pack the bags 4 – 5 days in advance. Last minute packing can make you forget essential things to be packed. Preplanning in advance would not lead to last minute Hussle as well as leaving out anything important. Spare few minutes to make a list of things which you need for day-to-day care of your child and then start packing. Don’t forget to highlight things to be packed last minute.

  • Preplan holiday. Holidays on the go are not for those who are travelling with children. Plan holidays including your itinerary. Keep afternoon free for resting. Else, children get cranky by the end of the day.
  • Pack plenty of healthy snacks. Don’t expect you would get food on the go.
  • If stay is booked, request the accommodation if you could order diapers at their address. If yes, carrying overflowing diaper bag can be avoided.
  • Travel light. Make a note of bags you are carrying with you. Avoid carrying many small handbags.
  • If you are taking your child first time on holiday, plan short distance and shorter holiday. Domestic holiday is preferable.
  • If taking flight, make sure child is constantly eating or sipping water during take off and landing. The flight starts descending well before touch down. The eating should start once announcement for descend is made.
  • If child allows, use infant seat belt.
  • Once child is 1.5 yrs to 2 yrs, it is better to buy a separate seat for the child.
  • If traveling by road, car seat is must for the safety of your child. For infants, inclined car seats are preferable, where head is also supported.
